Hyperbaric oxygen treatment (HBOT) takes place in a pressure chamber, where the patient breathes pure oxygen under elevated pressure. This increases the amount of oxygen carried around the body and can help speed up the healing process by providing oxygen to the cells. The treatment is often used to treat problems such as diving sickness, wounds, burns, radiation damage and inflammation. During the session, the patient must wear an oxygen mask and may experience a slight pressure sensation in the ears, which can be compensated by yawning or swallowing. HBOT is an effective and safe treatment method that is performed under the close supervision of trained personnel.
